On June 15th 2007 I was lucky enough to see purchase which was then the New Wave Fitness Centre. It was located just on the 2nd floor of the mill with a space of 5000 sq ft with dated equipment, no classes and an old rickety sauna! The entrance was around the back (where the hydrotherapy pool is) and it was just me and two staff and for some how we were charging £12 more than a month than we do now! I do pinch myself daily on what we have managed to achieve in this time with:
• A total space used of fifty thousand square foot
• Over 700 pieces of equipment
• Over 900 group exercise classes per month
• Over 150 staff and freelance instructors
• A 22m swimming pool, two hydrotherapy pools, 5 steam rooms, 5 saunas along with other fabulous features in the fire & ice spa.
• The waterfall café
• 24 Hour Opening
• Launched ambitious plans to build another floor in the roof space of the mill to create a new gym area for 80 pieces of equipment and another group exercise studio
The above would not have been achieved without our incredibly loyal membership base and the high percentage, THANK YOU ALL…
I do receive daily the question “would ever sell” and the answer is a simple NO!!!. I have in the past received approaches from nationwide chains and private equity firms but I am honestly as motivated as I was 12 years ago to continue to grow and create something very special indeed which is backed up by our current £2 million pound improvements plan.

£2 MILLION POUND IMPROVEMENTS UPDATE!
As ever we will be progressing with our improvements plan… This Month we will see:
• The installation of the main studio ventilation
• The additional weights and bars for the Les Mills Body Pump classes
• A pendulum squat machine will arrive in the sports performance centre
• The application has been submitted to the local authorities to create a new entrance to the building which will allow easier access… I can’t see any major reason as to why this would be rejected so if we get the go ahead we will tie it in to refurbish the reception area including moving the main desk to the centre which will allow for a small café and a separate day spa check in area..
• Unfortunately, we have experienced some unforeseen delays in the installation of the new hot water system to the whole building which has sadly had a knock-on effect on the completion of the male changing room extension. I have been assured both projects will be completed this month. Once the works have been completed, we will then be able to install the spin dryer and sound system in the male changing room. I do apologise for this delay.
• A new awesome class timetable will be launches on Monday 17th June
• The health food menu will be launched in the waterfall café on Monday 17th June
• Three new popular heated loungers will be installed
