Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Tuesday the government’s culture secretary, Oliver Dowden, and also the industry governing body, announced that it is their aspiration to give the green light for gyms to open in Mid-July….
Based on this advice, I am delighted to announce that our target date to open the health club will be on Monday 20th July..
I would like to reassure you all that the club’s highly experienced and qualified health & safety director will complete a full COVID 19 SAFE risk assessment before we open, however, we have made the following improvements in readiness for the opening:
• A 3-month supply of cleaning and hand sanitising products
• The installation of hand wash basins on every floor
• Hand sanitise stations and equipment cleaning products every 3 meters within the club
• Screens installed to limit the amount of out of use equipment and enable us to meet the recommended social distance guidelines
• Increased fresh air throughout the building and we have upgraded our ventilation systems
• New toilet facilities installed on each floor to limit changing room use
• A thorough review of our cleaning and audit processes, plus tripling the number of cleaners on site during all hours of opening.
• We have created one-way systems throughout the whole building, including an additional entrance into reception
• All staff have received COVID 19 safe training
• The club & spa are now cashless. The vending machine and new coffee bar payments are now contactless
A full announcement of our procedures and the release of our risk assessments will be published a week before we receive confirmation of our opening date. I can guarantee in the early days it will be slightly different to what it used to be; however, I am confident we can create a safe place but also an environment you can enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO DIRECT DEBITS WILL BE COLLECTED IN JULY!!!…. It is my intention that if we do open on 20th July, then THE FOLLOWING WILL HAPPEN FROM THE 20TH until 31st July:
• All registered members can use the facilities free of charge from the 20th until the 31st July..
All pre-paid memberships will be simply be extended for the time we were closed…
For those members who did pay by direct Debit on the 24th March (too late to stop following the closure) there will be no payment for the first month of opening.

If you are club member and have not downloaded the APP, I fully recommend you do so as it “MAY” become essential in order to follow proposed government guidelines. I understand there has been one or two issues for some members accessing the APP, however this is simply because there has been a data entry mistake in the past or member email addresses have changed etc… The team are available Monday to Friday 10am-6pm on 0115 9461041 to assist.

The government announcement on Tuesday indicated that they are working hard to get Spas open as soon as possible, as a result I am delighted to announce that we will now be taking new bookings from 1st September…(existing voucher holders will be given priority). I am hopeful/expecting that the existing bookings from the July 20th until the end of August will go ahead but these will be confirmed once the government make further announcements.
FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND, IF THE OPENING DATE IS DELAYED FURTHER ALL VOUCHERS PURCHASED FROM THE 26TH MARCH 2019 UNTIL WE DO REOPEN WILL HAVE THE ADDED BENEFIT OF AN UNLIMITED EXPIRY DATE!!!

FABULOUS NEW SPA ADDITIONS
With the opening date now delayed we are seizing the opportunity to complete some further pre-paid improvements to our already fabulous Fire & Ice Spa. We now have an additional themed ceiling similar to the one above the main pool and original hydro pool, with the sparkling lights and also adding a reflexology stone walk. We also have the awesome new Volcano Sauna and have retiled the original Hydro pool area.

As previously announced, the refurbished reception is nearing completion and looking just fabulous. The new lay out includes a new separate entrance/exit as part of COVID secure assessment, a new ceiling, flooring, themed TV wall and a small café area.

I am afraid our Thank You NHS offers must now come to an end…. From my own personal circumstances, I am immensely grateful to the NHS but also in total admiration for the work they have been doing during this surreal time… The complimentary spa days and memberships that we have offered now exceeded a cost of £75K and although I would like to do more for ALL key workers, I am afraid we need to get back to paying bills etc….
