POOL TO REOPEN— A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM MARK CLIFFORD

Hi all,

I can now confirm the pool and spa will reopen tomorrow 8am  ( Thursday 9th January). Apologies for the extra day closing, but as you may appreciate we wanted to make sure everything was in order even though the emergency services were happy with us to reopen shortly after the incident.

I can confirm that we are in touch with those effected by the incident and we will continue with this where we can.

Following Tuesday’s incident, I would firstly like to thank the emergency services for their fast and efficient services, and the surrounding businesses for their assistance allowing the use of their premises to support our members and spa guests. I would also like to thank all the kind members who have reached out to support and offer their support.

Over the last 18 years of trading as a family business, health & safety has been at the forefront of mine and the team’s mind. We have invested hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years in health & safety managers, operation managers, consultants, staff training, procedures and safety systems because the wellbeing of the public and staff is of paramount importance to me, and always will be.

Over the last couple of days, we have reviewed all our procedures and policies.  Our health & safety managers and external pool plant consultants have retested all our systems and staff on their competency. The outside relevant contractors and consultants have told us to reopen as the very rare issue that caused the incident has been resolved.  We have of course been in contact with all the relevant authorities and are able to reopen with confidence and certainty that we are safe.

On a total separate note, but it is worthing saying, I am nervous writing this email due to the vile and dreadful comments via social media that my family and the staff have received since the incident. It does seem that updates are being cut and pasted by local media outlets, and by public members to put on social media and local Facebook sites. These pages comments do seem to be unmoderated ( which I struggle to understand in today’s world of the ongoing highlights of social media bullying and also the rise in mental health issues ) and allow abuse , twisting of words and often just blatant lies  … Please remember my family and staff are humans with feelings, who can make mistakes and really don’t deserve the vile abuse.  

That being said, we have also received some lovely support and messages from recent and long-standing members, spa guests and staff which I would personally like thank them for that.
